Elena, a graduate, states, “it is important for my kids to see me graduate because that gives them an example of the importance of finishing their education.” Another graduate, Amilcar, was in the process of opening his own business when he was told he needed a high school diploma in order to obtain a small business license.  After enrolling and graduating from the program, Amilcar says, “obtaining the diploma has helped me start a business, but more than that,” he says, “I never dreamt I could do it.”

Dorothy Stang students also proudly participated in Chicago's March 10 and May 1 mass mobilizations in support of immigrant rights in 2006.
